Client Context

Battery Services Australia is a national subcontractor providing on-site support services to major FMCG brands. Operating across multiple sites and industries, the organisation recognised the need to strengthen its safety systems to ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations while maintaining efficiency and worker wellbeing.

Project Overview

In 2024, Organisational Risk Consulting (ORC) was engaged to conduct a comprehensive WHS Gap Analysis. The review assessed compliance with legislation, alignment with contractual requirements, and the effectiveness of the organisation’s safety management system.

Our Approach

The engagement combined multiple methods to provide a thorough assessment:

• Legal and Contractual Review: Assessed adherence to WHS and client contractual obligations.
• Safety System Review: Analysed existing policies, processes, and risk management frameworks.
• Site Observations: Conducted a combination of in-person visits in South      East Queensland and cost-effective remote assessments via live video in      NSW and Victoria.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborated with senior leaders and workers to understand operational challenges and opportunities.

Outcomes Achieved

ORC provided a detailed report outlining areas of non-compliance, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, with practical recommendations to:

• Conduct site-specific risk assessments for high-risk plant and operations.
• Strengthen safety management processes and documentation.
• Enhance worker training and consultation.
• Improve communication pathways to support effective risk management.

The client supported the recommendations and used the report to engage external stakeholders, fostering stronger safety leadership and operational consistency across the organisation.
